Sometimes a Wild God - the audiobook (read by Tom Hirons)
This recording was made a couple of years ago, the day we took to the road with Hedgespoken. Here's your chance to have it for yourself and help support us in the process.
The poem itself continues to spread ripples further and further beyond our little home - if you don't know it, perhaps you'd like to take a look over at Tom's website where the full text is there to read...
The recording is about 8 minutes long.
The cover art is, of course, by Rima Staines - it's one of the illustrations from the book, and is also featured on the poster.
'Sometimes a Wild God', which I ordered in mp3 form, is a wholesome gem, a magical seed that will always be kept under my pillow for dark nights and prophetic dreams. Tom Hirons' voice is deep, rich and rings of the moors from where he writes. He speaks of wild things, old gods, forgotten wisdom and the power of embracing the outsider that is within us all. Let us run to the margins and gather the nettles that we find there. Thank you.
I much enjoyed this evocative reading of Sometimes a Wild God. It's very interesting to hear the rhythm and texture of the words as intended by the poet. I love reading poetry, but I love hearing it even more!
Very easy and smooth experience, from purchase to download - I would recommend and use again.
I’ve loved this poem ever since I first saw it shared on another site. To hear it in the author’s voice (and he is one heck of a story teller) is even better. Highly recommended!
