I could not put this down. I unwrapped it and opened it, just intending to have a quick look. I don't recall sitting down but when I came out the other end of this book I was sitting and exhausted!!! What an elemental, earthy, mind-opening ride. Loved it so much.

I work in a bookstore in the Catskills, in New York State, and a customer mentioned that his pastor had read from a work called "sometimes a wild god" by a writer called Tom Hirons and that said writer had a new book out, "Scrimstone," and that I might be a perfect reader for it.
I was immediately besotted with Hedgespoken's vibe and ordered a copy of Scrimstone immediately -- and a copy for the fellow who gave me the recommendation too. I was delighted to find that it absolutely lived up to my expectations when it arrived (and it arrived swiftly, a pleasant note as well seeing as the state of international mailing is dodgy at best these days). The story is strange and dark and wondrous, the physical object an utter delight to hold. I wish I had a bit more scratch to become a friend of the press, and perhaps will some day down the line -- and in the meantime, I'm appreciative of this little tale and the magic it has brought into my neck of the woods.
