Such beautiful writings, illustrations and books. I love Sometimes a Wild God and in fact every book I have bought from this lovely company, and really helpful.
Many thanks Susanne

Found perchance on FB, loved the piece. Ordered simply and arrived well ahead Yuletide to warm another spirit. A delightful find and kind service. Well done and thank you.

A poem I will read again and again and again...

I have read and re-read this poem a thousand times and it always leaves me breathless; sometimes it leaves me teary-eyed. These books are beautifully, perfectly, illustrated and printed. I want to keep some on hand at all times, because I never know when I'll meet someone that needs to read it.
Thank you
Bernard E.
With Tom's kind consent I use Sometimes a Wild God during Fire Rituals that I occassionally hold.
The photo is me with over 30 people, some of whom were in tears, because of the power in Tom's words.

This book is simply a delight. So unique and it makes a lovely gift.
So glad that I found this via Facebook.

Another jewel of a book, (I keep giving my copy away as a present, hence the repeat orders) - Many Thanks.
Luke H.
My friend Fran read this to me when I went to see her a few weeks back, and I was stunned and delighted. Before Fran had finished reading I knew that I wanted to show it or read it to everybody I know - at least those who have a brain - and thereafter ordered several copies.
The feeling of untidy, inconvenient revelation made me think somewhat of poems of Gerard Manley Hopkins, and also of Rilke. Messy mysticism or something. Thank you.
Down the road from where I live (Bruton, Somerset) there is an art gallery, Hauser and Wirth, at which there are many artistic and cultural activities which should include your story telling/travelling player thing. If you should come up from the People's Republic of Totnes on a reconnaissance mission or whatever, we should love to see you for a pint or a cup of tea or whatever. Hauser and Wirth have deep pockets, so if you land a gig there, charge richly.
Be well

The printed edition of Sometimes a Wild God is a beautiful thing, simple yet elegant. The cover is hard-wearing and the text is just the right size for when I want to read the poem aloud to share it with someone.
Kelly O.
Stunning. Beautiful poem with beautiful illustrations. I’m not generally “into” poetry for the most part but this one really grabbed me.
The book is so cute and arrived quickly. Very happy and will definitely be looking out for other works
brian l.
I believe this work is one of the most relevant and moving works of the 21st century! Makes for a great gift for anyone but particularly those in crisis or major life changes!
karen R.
A beautiful poem about the circle of life and death very deep and thought-provoking. Beautifully written
Tiffany E.
I can't believe how quickly this arrived! It is so special to have this poem in print, especially in the pocket size it came in. Really nice printing! Highly debating on buying more to give for gifts this holiday season. Great to be supporting small businesses and amazing authors.
Lynn K.
This small book ( it measures 4 inches by 5 and three quarters ) possesses a power out of all proportion to its size. On the front cover is a most wonderful and mysterious picture of a crouching man, his eyes closed in deep introspection, his body etched with signs and symbols : sun, snake, bear, leaves.........The poem within takes you by surprise and seems to reach right out of the pages and grab hold of you. It is shocking, disturbing, frightening. But at the same time it has a magnificent beauty and elemental energy which are cathartic and healing. The poem is printed in clear black lettering on rich cream pages. It is lovely to look at, a delight to hold in the palm of your hand, a secret weapon in your pocket!

incredibly moving words in a critical time
Carol H.
I bought copies for my Continuum Movement pod, including a poet and somatic practitioners and a furniture maker. Hoping to read this together when we next meet live and have our movement be inspired by the wild god. Love the words and artwork together. Thank you!
Mandy P.
Beautiful item and a very special poem - thoroughly recommend
Nathalie F.
I ordered two copies of this, one for me and one for my best friend. The smell of the paper, the haptic experience of the cover, the slowed-down reading by having this poem bound in book form ... what delight. Thank you for creating such jewels.
Kornel K.
An interesting poem, with some startling turns of phrase about letting the wild into our lives.
Daniel M.
A modern hymn to the Wild God, a healing balm to a wounded soul. The poem is so rich it has become a prayer during contemplative moments. The book is tiny and raw and just a wonderful piece for anyone’s collection.
Alison D.
A powerful reminder of what I need to remember in life. A gift. Thank you.
scott g.
So glad to have discovered this poet and poem. Resonates in a deep growly satisfying way.
I was surprised how quickly it came considering it came from the UK.
Thank you!
Hilary M.
I bought this for a dear friend who loves the poem as much as I do.
Vikki C.
This poem tears my heart out every time I revisit it. It is a monstrous gift.
Cassandra L.
A powerful and timely piece of writing. I found it profoundly moving. Lovely small copy so it’s easy to carry with you if the mood takes you.
Bonnie H.
Absolutely marvelous!
Angela C.
I had a couple of these from the first printing, but keep giving them away. When I gave away the last copy I had (from my horned gods altar), I obviously had to buy a few more! Now I keep my own copy in my purse. :D
Amanda B.
I bought a copy of "Sometimes A Wild God" for my son's 18th birthday and one for a dear friend's 50th. The imagery and emotion evoked in these words move me whenever I read them. Thank you for your words.
Stephanie R.
I am a Grief Counselor in the United States. I am so grateful to have come across the poem, "Sometimes a Wild God", because I believe it is a powerful representation of the grief experience. Grief comes to the table unbidden, unwanted, and will not, cannot be ignored. It comes bearing gifts that no one wants and yet for which all are yearning. Only the dog recognizes who grief really is. Only the dog "Licks his wounds, Then leads him inside".
I have given and will continue to give this perfect poem to my clients and colleagues, knowing that it will provide them solace and understanding as only art can.
Greatest blessings to you, Mr Hirons, for your continued good work,
Stephanie Rogers

I’ve bought somewhere around 10 copies of Sometimes a Wild God (I’ve lost count). I regularly give it as a gift, as well as sharing the spoken word version and the Hedgespoken website online. It is a poem that speaks to my soul - my one wish is that there was a gender-neutral or female-oriented version as well.
The poetry is powerful, shamanic, rich. I cry every time I read it. Every time.
Karen B.
Beautiful and evocative poem presented in a really lovely little book
Luca F.
Amazing quality, beautiful poem and I love the fact that the paper is recycled.
Tamsyn B.
Such a beautiful little book, it gave me shivers. Beautifully printed, gorgeous front cover, fast postage, very happy!
TERRY .
The book arrived as a gift to my sweetheart. He read the story aloud and I wept, for it was about him, my bear. Thank you!
Tracy B.
I put my copy of "Sometimes a Wild God" right by my computer so I can read it at any moment that my job and spending all my time on a computer is making me totally insane -- as encouragement to continue to plot my escape!
Nina P.
Truly beautiful, Many Thanks.
Laura K.
Wonderful book!!

I first met this book a couple of years ago - it was love and tears at first reading: the words are so raw and so strong they split open your heart.
I have the poem in book form and in poster form, but this is the second copy I have bought as a gift - both for people who I knew would love it as deeply as I do. They did. Now the latest recipient is planning to buy it for two of her friends that she knows it will resonate with.
We have all I understood it in slightly different ways, and the discussion that followed has led us to reread the poem to ‘find’ each other’s meaning. It is just perfect.
Theresa M.
I received the Hedgespoken Press edition of Tom Hirons' poem SOMETIMES A WILD GOD. The little book is beautifully designed and produced, from the choice of type type to the charming illustrations. I'm impressed and very happy to have a copy in my library.
ethan h.
An urgent and important poem, beautifully presented.
I’ve bought 20 of these over the years to give to the people that I think would understand. They do.
Tom & Rima and Hedgespoken press are doing that this world needs.
Lori F.
I love this little wild incantation poem that reads like an adult version of Where the Wild Things Are. It celebrates the wildness in each of us that we may have forgotten yet need a gentle reminder of from time to time. At once awkward and lyrical, weirdly familiar and oddly comforting, it is a poem I will return to again and again.
Michael T.
Sometimes a piece does even more than leaves you speechless, it finds you grabbing for your wallet so that you can throw money at the artist who created it. The first time I heard Tom's reading of Sometimes A Wild God on Youtube, I immediately searched around for how to purchase a copy - my gratitude for such a beautiful gift to the world. And then the book came, beautifully bound, and all I could think was, "What more can I do to say thank you?" So here it is. So much gratitude this amazing piece of truth and magic.
Amanda R.
Very memorable little poem, celebrating wildness and imagination in a scary, but also, a somehow endearing way. Delightful.
Patrick M.
Shipping was extremely fast from the UK to New York. The book is just lovely and I am still understanding it. The artwork was such a compliment to the text---all in all a lovely marriage of word and art.
Thank you
Sally K.
Such a lovely little book- the poem is a healer- it expresses our human experience , unresolved places- shadow self- and how animals spirits will come in with the wild one in ourselves to assist- uninvited!
I just got the book today!
Cheri J.
Amazing how this small story evokes a wildness of spirit, a softening of the heart and a brightening of the imagination.
Thank You
John T.
The book is beautiful. It looks like an old book from an old book shop that hides it's secrets on dusty shelves at the back of the shop. The quality of the book is excellent. I really liked the poetry and the illustrations. It made me think; which is the whole point of buying a book in the first place. Thank you.
rebecca h.
I absolutely LOVE this little book. It keeps turning up in different places around the house and I sit and read it again and I hear something different each time. It feels like it’s tempting me out! Thank you x

'Sometimes a Wild God', byTom Hirons, was really lovely. The poem touched me deeply and I hope to order more to share with my friends. It was presented perfectly, very simply and pleasingly, and is the perfect size too. I loved the illustration of the Wild God on the front of the booklet -it was really lovely. All over, I am so pleased to have found hedgespokenpress.com and will be getting more things from them in the future. Thank you
Mollie S.
I love this poem and enjoy reading it often. The service I received was excellent - a very friendly company. Would love the poster but postage for rolled as opposed to folded is quite expensive.
Kathryn T.
The book arrived in good time, well packed and beautifully printed. The cover board in particular is welcoming in the hand, with good crisp print on the pages. The poem itself is evocative and unlike anything else I've ever read, so much so I bought two copies - one to keep and one to gift.
Marjorie F.
I have to confess I am not a poetry lover - it usually does nothing for me. But when someone shared "Sometimes a Wild God" with me I instantly fell in love with it as well as the beautiful illustrations. I love the whole ethos of Hedgespoken Press and am already eyeing up some matching cards to go with my booklet!
Jim W.
This is an incredible poem! If you just let your mind go, and let the images of the story come out, it will be a most enjoyable 7 minutes. That is about all it takes to read it. And then go back and read it again. And share it with your friends and seek their reactions.
As I am writing this, I imagine that those that know of Tom Bomdadil, will understand the imagery immediately. In this current turbulent time, we all need something that brings the dead back to life.
Kathryn C.
It's a wonderful poem, beautifully presented in its little book. I shall treasure it.
Stephanie M.
Absolute treasure! The quality and artwork is lovely..and of course the poem is still speaking to me!
This little booklet traveled across sky..sea and land to get to me..and arrived in pristine condition. Thank you so much for this treasured gift!
Jessica L.
Such a classic. Perfect postable gift.
Linda H.
I was delighted to find Hedgespoken! I ordered the book first for myself, I absolutely love it, lovely quality and great service. I've recently ordered another one for my niece and she is over the moon with it, never having read the poem before.... Thank You
christine w.
I bought this as a gift, because of the illustration and intriguing title, for my niece who has moved into a run down cottage in France. She absolutely loved it, I have never had so much appreciation for a gift. She said every-time she reads it, it has a different meaning. It’s a thing of great beauty. Thank you.
Douglas F.
Sometimes A Wild God by Tom Hirons is difficult to find. I was delighted to find this here at Hedgespoken Press. If you haven't read the poem, look it up and buy a copy! IT will bring you back to the wild woods of old.
Sally .
A wonderful story that penetrates straight into your soul.
Pamela H.
Well received as Christmas presents by friendly story tellers. Thank you Tom.
Elizabeth A.
So delighted. The artistry and craft is excellent, happy to support this art work. Expedient shipping, as well.
Jennifer M.
Holding this carefully curated piece - from artwork, thoughtful paper choice and the flow of beautiful words within - is such a treasure. So grateful to have this in my
hands to ponder over for a lifetime.
Katherine S.
A beautiful book, and thank you so much for helping me out with the posting. I'll be buying from Hedgespoken again :)
Becky B.
I bought 7 copies of ‘Sometimes a wild god’. A friend of mine had been given a copy, I loved it! 6 for Christmas presents and one for me. For me it’s who I am but more importantly what I forget to be. It’s a gem and a celebration of all our true selves.
Deborah F.
I only recently came across Tom's reading of this poem through YouTube. Listening was a very emotional experience for me and marked a recognition of a way of life demanding its due, especially when feeling less than wild in the suburbs of Boston! And so I bought a handful of the wee books; one for myself and friends and my son whom will all welcome this Wild God! Your voice, whether spoken or on the page, are much needed wayshowers in this time. Grateful to walk this path alongside you.
Denis G.
As always the service you guys provide is excellent, it's a pleasure to experience your wonderful products and support one of the 'good' guys.
Bramble O.
Sometimes a Wild God is absolutely gorgeous. I love the poem, and the illustrations are beautiful. It arrived very swiftly in the post, and is a joy to hold and have, with its thick brown paper and beautiful layout. It will make a perfect Christmas gift for my folky poetical partner. Thank you Hedgespoken xxx
Siobhan E.
I love Toms poetry and Rimas illustrations very much ♥️
The process of ordering and delivery is simple and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for pleasure and uplift
Erica L.
So simple, so raw.... just love it.
Barnard, C.
I heard this poem being read on a podcast ‘This Jungian Life’ and was knocked out by it - so I went on line to find out where I could get hold of it. I recommend everyone read it - it’s astonishing
Janice F.
This is interesting thought provoking writing, in nicely designed booklets. I don't know if all are the same but these two seemed to be confronting the reader with the present day disconnect between us and Nature. Deep haunting words.
maude c.
The little book arrived really quickly, nicely packaged, and has the appearance of an artisan item - very stylish and nicely presented. The poem itself is enjoyable to read and re-read
Lizzie r.
Delighted.
Miss K.
A wonderful poem presented beautifully
Rebecca Q.
Such a beautiful poem, in a lovely little book with amazing illustration. I brought one for myself & one as a gift. Very, very happy with it! Thanks! :)
THERESA T.
Thank you so much for the beautifully designed books. I plan to give these as gifts, so I am pleased to find the excellent quality of paper and print. They also arrived to Minnesota well packaged and within a quite reasonable timeframe. Thank you for carrying Tom Hirons - that alone, a gift as well!
Jan M.
When I first read the poem it made me want to cry, so beautiful and a poignant reminder of to acknowledge and reunite with the wild within ourselves. The Wild God comes when we need him the most...
Emma G.
Such a treasure!!! Receiving it as a gift in the post, filled me with intrigue...the adventure had begun before the enveloppe was open!! The magic flowed out as I withdrew the skillfully drawn book. Obvious interaction between storyteller and artist, the comprehension by Rima of the in-depth narrative of the story-teller Tim gave us a clear concept of The Wild god on the cover which accompanied us through the journey.
Each time I read the story, it opens up my mind to a new understanding.
Thoroughly enjoyable, this will get me through the Winter!!!
Vicki W.
I bought this for a good friend who works as a park ranger in another part of the country. He loves nothing more than being in wild nature. He loved this poem.
Michael E.
A beautifully and simply produced little book . A real delight . Thankyou!
I have already given away the two copies I ordered .
The poem is essential reading for all men who are wondering where their life went and how to get it back .
A total joy . The painting is my first response to it , and very much new territory for me .
Jenna W.
beautiful!
Bonnie G.
The imagery in Tom's poem spoke to me when I ran across it on line a number of years ago. When I went looking for it again, the link had been lost. I am very happy to have found it through Hedgespoken Press and can now read it in an easy to hold book. Much better than online!
Alyson H.
Love this beautiful little book. Communication was excellent and super-fast shipping from across the pond.
David H.
Amazing poem, great to be able to carry it wherever and read it aloud when it needs to be heard.
Phil R.
This is a fabulous piece of work. It's very personal obviously, however if you like playful, real, swampy and ultimately very moving work you will love this. Reminds me for some reason of Robert Bly.
Ian I.
A beautiful slip of a book. It has such profound depths I couldn't move for some time. May the wild god come to your table.
Patrick C.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful book.
Oliver S.
I didn´t expect such a wonderful poem and story! Marvelous! Floods the soul!
Ms S.
A wonderful book, I am really enjoying it and it arrived very fast. Keep at it !!!!
James R.
This is my 3rd copy of "Sometimes A Wild God" by Tom Hirons. It is such a wonderful book, and has evoked such a feeling of longing within me: A longing for something that has been lost within each of us. The wild part of ourselves which life has squeezed from us, severing our connection with life, our feelings, and the lovely poet within each of us.
Elayne B.
I have wanted a copy of this for years. I am so happy, that I now own one that I can read whenever I want
Katrina D.
I ordered this one for a friend as I already have one, and he absolutely loves it. Thank you for your wild, wonderful words of wisdom calling us home.
Tim K.
Fabulous poem, we liked it so much we made a video of my friend Adrian reading it.
Sarah H.
I loved this poem from the first time I read it on Facebook. Tom was very helpful when I couldn't locate it online and then I ordered it immediately. I read it every day. The book is small but of good quality, with nice printing and paper quality.
Jennifer M.
I was introduced to this poem by a moderator during an online retreat. In commenting on one of my posts she thought I would like it. It is a poem that I read over and over and over. I am so happy to have this lovely print edition. I love everything about it- the size, the font, the feel of the paper. I will probably order a second copy- one for my bookshelf, one for my purse.
Sandra S.
Love, Love, Love

An intriguing experiential book that draws me in with layers of grief and wonder... Recommend
