I recently received this stunning Advent Calendar and I can not wait to begin opening the doors. I bought it as a treat for the big kid inside me and I'm excited to follow the clues to the folk tales, I'm hoping I'll be able to find them and read a story to my son each night (don't worry, he has his own calendar too!) The Storyteller is in pride of place and I get a little frisson of warmth every time I look at it. I will post a photo once I've begun opening the doors. Really fantastic quality and such beautiful artwork. It is great to have an advent calendar that isn't full of plastic or chocolate made from child labor. I struggle with SAD and winter is a hard time for me. I wanted to treat myself to something that celebrates the seasons and this feels like a lovely treat to myself. It is nice to be able to have an advent calendar that isn't just another piece of consumer crap. I am so in love with the artwork though, i think i need a print!

Shhhhhh! This is a present and hasn't been opened but I'm really looking forward to seeing it and I think the recipient is going to be delighted. All I can tell you so far, is that it arrived quickly, outer packaging was recyclable and it's in a sturdy envelope to protect it. This is a wonderful advent calendar: every day is an exploration of stories and the other world. I bought this as a gift but, when it arrived, I was reluctant to hand it over... seeing how much the whole family enjoys it makes up for that though!

I love this for so many reasons - Rima's amazing artwork, for one! And the sheer child-like magic of seeking the number each day, and finding atypical images - an apple, a comb, beans... Atypical for Christmas, maybe, but perfect images for the teller of fairy stories. A definite 5-star purchase for me!!

The illustration is lovely and reminiscent of my old Grimms fairytale book from my childhood that I stilll have.
Only difficulty is in still trying to place/link one or two pictures with their relevant stories. I assume there will be an online checklist at end of the month? My youngest Grandson who like most other little ones always has a chocolate filled advent calendar, was delighted to help me open a couple of story pictures from my own calendar. He reallly enjoyed talking about the pictures too.

I had already got an advent calendar, but saw The Storyteller one on Hedgespoken website and fell in love with it. You are never too old for stories, and it has been a delight each day to open a door a see a tiny symbol from a tale. Can I guess them all? - some are more difficult than others, all are exquisite. I long to crouch on the snow with the children and dogs and listen as the old woman weaves her magic. If you look long enough you can almost hear her speak.

I'm making myself wait until Advent to start opening the doors. It'll be interesting to see how many stories I can guess right. If anything, I'll learn 24 new stories!
The artwork on this calendar is so wondrous! It gives an Old World feel to the Storyteller's setting, adding a depth to the season. I do love Rima's art. You could frame this calendar, I'll have to experiment to see how easy it would be to open the doors while in a frame.

Inside was the exquisitely rendered Advent Calendar by Rima, and Tom and Rima's beautiful new book 'The Firebird', hot off the press. As it's not Christmas, I had to summon some self control not to open every flap on the calendar, to discover the illustration behind!
Beautifully printed, and well packaged to arrive safely, the advent calendar is a treasure of characters and folklore, mystery and beauty , so emblematic of Rima's beguiling artistry.
The little book, is equally enchanting, with Tom's unique re-telling of the tale accompanied by Rima's paintings and cameos, capturing the essence of the story, in a beautifully designed and produced little book. Both treasures I highly recommend.
